SnapClaim was built around a simple principle: your financial information belongs to you, not us. Here is exactly what we store, what we do not, and why.
SnapClaim is designed to do its job without knowing more about you than it needs to.
| Data type | Where stored | Retained by SnapClaim? |
|---|---|---|
| Your scanned receipts (data) | Your device only (browser localStorage) — all plans | ✕ Never |
| Receipt images (JPEG / PDF) | Sent to AI for analysis, then discarded | ✕ Not stored |
| Email address | Encrypted in our database (Upstash Redis, Sydney) | ✓ Yes — for account access |
| Name, company, phone | Encrypted in our database (Upstash Redis, Sydney) | ✓ Yes — for your profile |
| Subscription status | Stripe (payment provider) + our database | ✓ Yes — to manage your plan |
| Payment card details | Stripe only — we never see or store card numbers | ✕ Never handled by us |
| Scan count (this month) | Our database — used for plan limits only | ✓ Yes — resets monthly |
| ATO deduction categories | Your device only | ✕ Never |
When you tap Analyse on a receipt, the image is sent securely over HTTPS to Anthropic's Claude API — the same underlying technology used by major enterprises worldwide. Claude reads the receipt, identifies the merchant, amount and date, and classifies the expense against the ATO's D-code deduction categories (D1–D15).
The image is not stored by Anthropic after the response is returned. Claude processes it in memory and discards it. The structured result — merchant name, amount, ATO code — is returned to your device and saved locally. On the Professional plan, SnapClaim also saves the original image to Cloudflare R2 secure cloud storage under your account.
We do not send any personally identifying information to the AI. The only data the AI sees is the receipt image itself.
Account data (email, name, subscription status) is stored in Upstash Redis, Sydney region (ap-southeast-2) — your data stays in Australia. The application itself runs on Vercel's global edge network with Australian points of presence.
Payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment provider. SnapClaim never receives or stores your card number, CVV or bank details — all payment data is handled entirely by Stripe.
Export: You can export all your receipts at any time from the app's Settings screen using the backup feature. This gives you a complete JSON file of everything stored on your device.
Delete receipts: You can delete individual receipts or clear all data directly from within the app. This wipes everything from your device immediately.
Delete your account: To permanently delete your account and all associated data from our servers, email us at hello@snapclaim.com.au. We will action deletion within 30 days and confirm by email.
Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request corrections, and in many cases request deletion. Contact us at any time to exercise these rights.
